This web site is dedicated to our friend Lourdess Sumners who is being treated for cancer for the second time in the last 24 months. Lourdess is battling Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
Lourdess who is nine years old is preparing for another round of chemotherapy and radiation treatment to overcome the rare form of leukemia, acute myelogenous leukemia, a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow.
Lourdess is from Filipino and Caucasian background, which has made the search for a bone marrow match by doctors very difficult. They could not find a match so they have choosen to use a stem- cell transplants from donated umbilical cords and placentas.
Lourdess has been at Children's Hospital in Vancouver since November, where she has been through two rounds of chemotherapy. Currently Lorurdess is at Ronald McDonald House resting and gaining energy before she under goes 10 days of treatment in early February before receiving the stem cell transplant.
Lourdess' Dad, Orlando and Mom, Ping and Sister, Georgette are at her side. Orlando has had to leave his business behind so he can be at his families side full time.
The Sumners encourage you to help others who needed Bone Marrow transplants by going to www.onematch.ca
